Genelec celebrated its 30th Anniversary in Iisalmi. Guests from all over the world gathered for the celebrations. The formal program featuring a long reception, speeches and recognition awards took place in the Iisalmi Cultural Centre. A large party with dinner buffet and live music was organised on the factory lakeside.

Perched almost precariously on the northern fringes of Europe, Finland is a small country whose technological mark on the world is much greater than one might initially suppose. In Iisalmi, which lies about 400 km from what some would consider 'civilisation', stands Genelec Oy's headquarters. Nestling amidst forests and lakes, it's where the company's acclaimed active monitoring systems are developed and manufactured. Ilpo Martikainen, co-founder of Genelec was born here and he began making loudspeakers to supplement his income at University.

Mr. Ilpo Martikainen, Chairman of the Board and founder of Genelec Oy, was conferred the title of Doctor of Science in Technology H.C. at the 20th Ceremonial Conferment of Doctoral Degrees at Helsinki University of Technology April 2, 2008.

Genelec has updated its smaller active 3-way models for Custom Install with a new rack mountable amplifier unit. The new RAM4 amplifier is included in the AOW312B and HT312B speaker systems. The RAM5 unit is dedicated to the HT315B and HT320BC models.
